Para instalar el icono de compiz fusion en ubuntu necesitamos agregar esto a los repositorios
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/maco.m/ubuntu gutsy main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/maco.m/ubuntu gutsy main restricted universe multiverse
Hecho esto, lo instalamos desde una terminal
sudo aptitude install fusion-icon
Y para correrlo Menú -> Herramientas del sistema -> Compiz Fusion Icon
Para que inicie junto con la sesión Menú -> Sistema -> Preferencia -> Sesiones
Nombre: El que quieran
Comando: fusion-icon
Cuando ejecutemos el programa o reiniciemos la sesión tendremos el icono de compiz fusion en el área de notificación

Espectacular tu post, elimine el barra gnome la cambie x Avant Window Navigator y desaparecian los bordes de las ventanas estaba el icono del compiz pero no respondia ahora lo puse al inicio no aparece en el dock directamente va al escritorio, doble click y se recargan las ventanas cuando desaparecen los bordes. gracias x el aporte Abrazo linuxero!!
